Sailing Chandlery sponsored sailor Jamie Cook tells us about his experience at the 420 Inland Championships.
The 420 inlands was rescheduled due to the icy and windy conditions that we faced in March. The event was also shared with a few others classes which meant we were sailing an infamous triangle sausage course which was great fun.
When we launched on Saturday we were expecting light and shifty winds but were actually greeted with a nice semi trapezing wind which was great for close and exciting racing. We managed to kickstart the event with a good first race and a decent second race However, we were held back by a bit of a boat issue in the third which then became our discard. Thanks to the spares and equipment we’ve managed to acquire thanks to Sailing Chandlery we got the boat set up and race ready for the last day of racing. Overall, we were sat tenth after the first day with plenty of opportunity to gain places due to the close racing.
The second and final day in Rutland started off grey however the sun did come out towards midday and the fleet was greeted with a nice range from 7-12 kts which fluctuated through the day. In the first race we managed to pick up a 6th which was a good way to start the day. As the were only two races on Sunday we finished the last race in 7th place which boosted us up to 8th overall. As we felt fast that day it would’ve been nice to see what one more race could have done to the overall standings.
The weekend was a great chance to check over the boat and equipment before we head to France next Sunday for an event. It was great to use some of the ropes that have been tapered by Sailing Chandlery like our spinnaker sheets as they help us to keep on top of boat work so we can focus more on the racing. Thanks as always!
Good quality fitted well, length good
Great service
Fast delivery - exactly as per order - many thanks
Nice smooth finish and easy to splice
This is not only comfortable but really roomy. The internal pocket is just right for my laptop and the straps mean that some items can be clipped on the outside. I’ll be using this for years to come!!
Great, exactly what I wanted they seem high quality and dont rust.
Such an easy website to use and the team are great. Fast arrival and brilliant condition. Definitely my go-to for all my sailing needs
Super value for money and delivered super quickly too. We were back on the water racing within no time
It’s really good you can get a spare for this because often you only lose this bit! It’s a much cheaper option and comes quickly.
The wheels were easily fitted to my laser launching trolley using existing washers and retaining clips.
Have been used only a couple of times so far but run smoothly and seem to do the
job fine.
Really pleased with the cover fits perfectly. I knew when it would arrive the company kept me up to date with the process
Good service, no complaints.
Very good tool to get those very tight knots undone
I've tried a number of different types and makes of neoprene boots for Sea Kayaking and these are the best (most comfortable) fit and easiest to get on/off to of all that I have tried, Really pleased with them. The sole is not as thick as it would appear from the photos but seem to be perfectly good for the usual limited shore walking.
Fine just as expected
